iOS garageband add amp, cannot return to tracks

Adding tracks:

When I add an amp track, the icon to return to tracks disappears and I cannot go back to tracks.

I have one song that I have added two tracks like this, but now it will not do it because the track icon does not show.

When I first add the amp track, the tracks icon shows for a fraction of a second then disappears.

If I select the [select instrument] icon, i can change to another instrument and the [select track] icon reappears.
