Hi - try this:
On your iPhone, go to: Settings > General > Keyboard - check that Enable Dictation is turned on.
Actually a friend of mine helped me on this one. It was a pretty simple fix. I had to turn Siri on on my phone. I had Siri disabled as she was a pain. Once I enabled Siri on my phone, I was able to do a voice text message. Thanks for your time. Hope this helps others.
