Quicktime Player Movie Scrubbing???
Whatever happened to the feature that when you press down on the playhead during editing that the range of the movie expanded and one can edit in finer increments?

I don't remember being able to edit in Quicktime Players at all. Do you mean iMovie or some other program?
I do not recall QT Player PRO 7.x having this feature...
Other editors commonly have "zoom" that you describe
If I were editing frame level in QTPP7, I would simply use the arrow keys with the keyboard commands " i " for IN-point and " o " for OUT-point
When I thought I missed it, I did some searching and found this (from 2013) that described holding down the Play/Pause button to get finer detail http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/17/5-quicktime-player-secrets/. I cannot recall if I ever used that in OS X. BUT, in iOS 9 (and maybe earlier) one can press the scrubber when editing, the magnification happens. That probably caused the confusion.
