Q: IPHONE 6S gone black won't restore !

Hi basically new iPhone 6S 2 months old max in safe case, no issues, was scrolling couple of pictures and suddenly went off ! Black screen, no reason for it so I checked charge with lead..no response... I know its around 80% anyway.

Tried soft reset with home and power buttons, nothing at all.

Connect with usb to my macbook pro and says needs restore as phone in recovery mode ?!! what ? shouldn't be I did nothing to want that !

in the end I give in and select restore and upgrade although recently had a software upgrade.

iTunes says extracting software....waiting for phone and then briefly phone actually lights slightly and apple logo shows for 2 secs as if on a reset then disappears and says Error 4014 can't be restored.. I've tried all night and it's still not doing a thing.... what is up ? want to throw at the staff at apple shop tomorrow a.m. as I'm self employed and can't be contacted !!!

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1

If you see error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you restore your iOS device

When you try to update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you might see one of these messages in iTunes.

If your iOS device disconnects during the update or restore or if iTunes couldn't tell the device to restore, you might see one of these messages:

    • The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (9).
    • The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4005).
    • The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4013).
    • The iPhone [device name] could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4014).

Try these steps to restore your iOS device:

    1. Install the latest version of iTunes.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Check for updates to your Mac or PC. If you restart your computer for an update, check for updates again after you restart.
    4. Try to restore your device using another USB cable.
    5. Try to restore your device on another computer.
    6. Force your device to restart.

If you continue to see error 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you try to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, contact us.

    Hey razmee209,

I have tried literally every single thing possible to reset the phone / fix yet another stupid issue with an apple gear.

I'm raging, I must have spent thousands on thousands on apple kit over past few years and recently last 4 months or so purchased 2 new phones, 2 iPads , 1 new macbook, apple tv x x2 and another airport express and this has a problem now on my new phone !! I'm ready to throw all apple out for good.

Since you stated that you tried everything to reset or fix the phone, what did Apple say when you contacted them about the issue?

I provided you with the help for error 4014 and the last paragraph clearly states if you still have issues to contact Apple.

So please respond back with Apple told you.

Could not contact Apple although more than likely a waste of my time knowing their customer service record from experiences I've had ! I'm in Jersey too which means everything is 10 times as hard to sort out... Anyways Technician has fast tracked my phone at authorised premium reseller store that Jersey has and subsequently ordered me a brand new phone today after taking it apart and inspecting it. Said possibly logic board fail but definitely a major hardware component sudden failure and not possible to fix it. So fingers crossed the next one won't fail again ! Thanks for what help you did forward to me.
