How to connect MacBook Pro 2015 to mini displayport?

What cable do I need to connect my Macbook Pro thunderbolt to an external monitor with a mini-displayport (Acer S277HK wmidpp 27-inch 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) Widescreen Display)? I bought a mini-display port cable with the monitor and it does not work.

I see you're trying to connect your new MacBook Pro 15" to an external display. Given the specs of your external display, it looks like they suggest using an HDMI cable. Your Mac has an HDMI port on it, so simply plug in a cable like the one linked below.
