Q: Exporting edit/cut markers to Compressor for DVD hinting

In the old days, when you'd export a project from Final Cut Pro to Compressor/DVD Studio Pro, edit/cut markers were automatically included. However, when I used FCP X 10.2.2 to Send to Compressor and picked "Create DVD" there don't appear to be any Edit/Cut markers visible in the little scrubber bar under the video preview in Compressor (and yes, I have them turned on to show). Does anyone know if Compressor silently still respects the edits/cuts from the project and will use those to set new GOPs to avoid pixelation during cuts/transitions? I'd like to avoid creating all the markers manually in my project, as there are many cuts and transitions.

Thanks.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Final Cut Pro X 10.2.2

Not sure what to tell you except that you're right, they don't display. I'm sure you're correct about the legacy behavior, but I also don't recall referencing the markers in any of my work (although I did use compression markers at times – though not with a lot of success.

I assume that FCP X is creating the markers, but I don't know how that can be verified. And I don't know why Compressor doesn't display them. If you have artifacts that you want to try to fix, you could add a marker as a test in Compressor to see whether it improves the image.

Perhaps someone else can chime in.
