Word 2008 English/Spanish spellcheck
Hi all!
I'm on a Late 2009 MacMini, running OSX 10.11.3, using Word for Mac 2008...I'm an English/Spanish translator so I switch my keyboard input a lot (on the actual computer, set up to where command+space switches my keyboard to SP and back to EN).
My issues is that, when working in Word, the spellchecker will switch languages if I switch my keyboard input. It can get annoying and I cannot find a way to change this.
I'm translating a recipe now, for example. I have the language set to Spanish (select all --> Tools -- Language -- Spanish). I had my keyboard set to Spanish, switched to English to write 1/4 (very automatically, without even thinking, because I know the / in the English layout...). Word will then switch the spellchecker to English, and start underlining everything after the 1/4 in red, until I select everything, go back into the Language menu and set it to Spanish. If I switch the input back to Spanish, then from that moment on the spellchecker will switch back to Spanish, but whatever I typed in "English" is still marked wrong.
Quickest "fix" would be to just switch right back to Spanish after typing whatever special character I needed in English, but my brain and hands are just automatically accustomed to only switching inputs as needed...i.e., if there's no accent marks or special Spanish characters needed, I'll just keep typing with the English layout.
I can't find settings to change this anywhere...I just want Word to stick with the language I set the document to, regardless of the keyboard input...any help?
Thanks!
