My location isn't showing on FB - help?

I have an iPhone 6 with the most recent updated.

Earlier today I noticed that when I tried to post a status on Facebook, my location was not showing up. It's been the most up to date version of the app for awhile and my location services are on.

Previously, whenever I would post a status update, my post would be tagged with my general location (i.e. "Los Angeles, CA"), even if I didn't physically check into a business/location.

However, something happened earlier today where the general location is no longer appearing. I do have Location Services enabled for the phone as a whole and also for Facebook specifically.

I tried posting using the Facebook mobile site as well (m.facebook.com) and I have the same problem.

I've tried restarting my phone, and also deleting and reinstalling the app, but so far, no luck.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Sounds like a Facebook issue rather than a Location/iPhone issue. Especially since another poster is having the same problem. Possibly a server issue? I would not panic, but rather wait until tomorrow and try again. Much of the time these kinds of issues resolve themselves.

I have exactly the same problem 😟 Yesterday everything was ok...fyi this morning i noticed some changes in locations on fb desktop version, so lets hope the problem will resolved asap.

Ah - glad to know I'm not the only one who's been having this issue.

Unfortunately for me, the desktop version hasn't shown the location in awhile so I can't really talk about that.

I wonder why this problem even happened because it's not like there was a recent update.

@javaliga -

Yes like I said in my first post, the location services are on (they've always been on) and this problem started happening out of nowhere yesterday. I haven't changed the settings or anything like that. I just went into my phone settings again to make sure location services are still on, and they are. I'm not sure what could be causing this but it's frustrating.

Good news is that I uploaded a photo and it shows the location on the desktop (although not the mobile), I think FB is fixing this problem at the moment since last night location wasn't even available on the desktop.

Just to be clear:

Do you have Location Services turned on at Settings > General > Location Services?

If so, is FaceBook turned on as a location service?

its a fb issue for sure... there was an updade (v 48) so i updated and after an hour or two the problem was resolved from itself ... i hope u ll resolve it too asap

I has this same issue and found a fix. I went to Settings> General> Background App Refresh and turned it On for Facebook. Now when I go to post a status it shows my location. Hope this helps.
