Macbook pro, VPN, ethernet and wifi

I have a VPN service set up on my Mac and receive internet via wifi and then share the VPN out through thunderbolt ethernet. I want to know if it is possible to receive my internet via one thunderbolt port and share the VPN out of the other thunderbolt port to avoid wifi signal issue?
