Q: Transfer pictures to Macbook Air from old laptop

HI,

I have a 13' Macbook air and an old acer laptop. I want to transfer all my pictures from my old laptop onto the new one.

At the moment, all my pictures are on disks and I want to put them onto a hard drive. But, my old laptop does not recognise my hard drive because it is too big and my laptop does not have a disk drive. I know that I can start my laptop in target disk mode and then connect it to my old laptop via a cable. However, my old laptop only has USB and ethernet drives. The wifi in my house is terrible so, trying to transfer everything though that would take too long.

I just wondered what cable to buy and what would be the cheapest and most efficient way of transferring everything.
