iTunes can not find server

I have iTunes match to share my songs to my iPad and iPhone, that works fine.

I have all my songs on a external hard drive connected to my MacBook over wifi at home.

When I take my MacBook to work I can't play music with it, it cannot find the server, but the iPad and iPhone can play all my songs.

How can I play my songs with the computer when I'm not at home. Yes, I can have all my songs on the computer but I do not have the space, therefor I started using iTunes Match to make all my songs reachable everywhere.

Can anyone solve the problem?

THanks
