It is a utility program that aims to facilitate the installation of Motion templates - i.e., transitions, titles, effects and generators - for use with FCP X.

Some templates come with an installer, but others need to be manually placed in the appropriate folders in order to be "seen" by FCP X. While that is not hard for some users, it can be for others, and this tool is meant to help.

I looked at the MTT and don't understand how does it know what folder to chose a specific Custom Motion Template. It shows to some weird destination that its not part of motion template folder.

Is there a video tutorial available how to use the application?

    Thank you.

You're probably better off learning how to install templates manually and getting an understanding of what exactly is going on. I have this guide: http://fcpxtemplates.com/install4fcpx/latest.htm (there's also a link to a video there.) Afterwards, you might understand what MTT is trying to accomplish. It's basically a "package installer" type design.

Almost all the templates I release are set up for a manual installation. My reasoning is that it allows the end user (you) to create your own custom "Category" folder in which to place the template. Pre-packaged installers take that decision out of your hands, especially as most are reluctant to "change" how a package installer places files (learned behavior.)

It's a Mac! It's YOUR Mac. You SHOULD be able to place files however you like them (I'm really "old school" and this "ain't" Windows!) Unfortunately, there are restrictions imposed (albeit understandable) by the way FCPX works. Be knowledgeable. Be brave.

    Thanks @fox_m

Love your answer, I was thinking the same way, learning how to do it manually.
