Q: Keyboard not repeating when key held down.

How can I get my wireless keyboard to repeat letters when the key held down e.g. 1000000000000000000000.

Seems to be a common fault from what I read.

    Hi John,

not a fault, for Apple this is a feature supporting easy use of accented characters and the behaviour of your keyboard depends on the application your using.

    More information is here:

Especially the section "Repeat a character" describes what is annoying you, I think. But it's exactly like it's described therein. For example in Text Editor you can't type and hold the letter "a" to get repeated aaaaaa…, but in Terminal it'll work.

I agree that copying the key to the clibboard and use Commad-V to insert it repeatingly is not a very satisfying solution. Sounds more like a workaround.

    Hello Lars,

Thank you for your answer and your answer is correct except for one point, I think that this is a fault with Apple as repeating letters would have a more common usage that repeating symbols so in my opinion should take priority.
