i havnt used my ipod video in about 3 years
i just plugged it into my new laptop to erase and start uploading again with new music
its erased everything but gone into a safe mode and wont connect upto the latest itunes
can anybody help ?
Do you use a Mac or Windows PC to run iTunes? If Windows, what version?
Describe what you mean by "safe mode" for the iPod? What do you see on the iPod's screen when you connect it to your computer running iTunes?
i use windows 10
it goes into must charge mode and then goes into a white screen saying do not disscontect
If you upgraded to Windows 10 over an existing system, did you install the latest version of iTunes AFTER the Windows upgrade or before? If it was before, you may want to install iTunes again, after downloading the latest version from Apple.
Seeing "Do not disconnect" on the iPod's screen is good. That means the iPod is seeing a data connection. What did you mean by "safe mode" in your previous post? Is that the "Do not disconnect" message on iPod's screen, or something different?
In iTunes, the iPod appears as a small device button on the horizontal bar that goes across the iTunes window. In your previous post, you said, "its erased everything." Does that mean iTunes recognized the iPod, and asked you to do a Restore or take some other action that erased the iPod?
yeah it did recognise it and wiped it completly
now it just says do not disconnect and then on itunes it says it needs formating
and then restore on the home screen when it gets half way threw it just stops

What does that mean, precisely? You tell iTunes to do a Restore, and it does not complete the procedure? Does iTunes give you an error message? What is your indication that "it just stops"?
so i have just connected my ipod its come up on a white screen with do not disconect in the center
and it comes up with an error code 1439

That's while iTunes is trying to do a Restore on the iPod, correct? This document has advice for that error code
You've done some of the actions already. You should definitely try disconnecting all USB devices from your computer (except standard USB keyboard/mouse if used), and connecting iPod by itself to a direct USB port on the computer.
Also (if problem not resolved), you should try putting the iPod into Disk Mode
