I need to update OS 10.6.8 on 08 Mac Pro. What OS can i upgrade to with out slowing or messing up computer? it has 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor and 22 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM Memory. Thanks Scott

First, make sure you have Trusted Backup.
Consider Installing the latest Mac OS X 10.11 ElCapitan (the one getting all the latest security Updates) onto a BLANK drive, so that if it cannot work for you, you can go back to your old, unmodified drive and try a different approach later.
