6S cold weather battery issue

I believe this a known issue, but can't find much on it. I have an iPhone 6s and without fail if I pull it out of my pocket in cold (35F'ish and below) weather, the phone will go from full charge to shutdown due to battery at 0% in under a minute. When I attempt to turn it back on in cold it will show the low battery indicator. As soon as I get in a more warm environment it will turn on and show the full charge again. I've used every generation of iPhone and they all have diminished performance in cold weather, but nothing even close to this. Unacceptable.

I am having same problem with iPhone 6s I work in all weathers - never had a problem with my 3GS or 5 but just changed & the 6s drains the battery in temps of 7 degrees in minutes here in uk & it's not even the coldest part of winter yet - how will it cope when we drop lower? & how on earth did Apple design a phone that has such a major flaw? Thinner is obviously not always better & since having iPhones for the last 7 yrs I've always sworn by & stuck up for apple - please apple sort this out
