I want to automatically add a transition between each clip in my movie (iMovie 10.1.1) According to Apple, I need to go to Window>Movie Properties and click on BUT, there is no "Movie Properties" in the Window drop-down menu. 1)Why can't I access my movie properties (Yes, my movie is open, I am currently editing it). And 2)If this instruction is no longer valid, how can I do this?

I think you must be looking at instructions for an earlier version of iMovie. In iMovie 10.1.1 you use the settings menu top right in timeline pane:
If you tick Automatic content with no theme you get a cross fade between each clip. See http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.1/#/movcaedc4dbd
