Kernel Panic help!

Hi all,

I get repeated Panics on my 2008 MBP 5,1. Went to a Genius and was told Chrome might be the issue. Deleted it and the Panics became MORE frequent.

They tend to happen when I leave the computer on and go away, so I'm unsure of exactly what causes them - it's never happened while I've been sat with the computer.

I'm running Yosemite, not gone to El Capitan yet as unsure if Logic 8 Express will function on it.

I'll copy/paste the Panic log below, and I hope someone out there has the smarts to help me uncover what might be going on.

Thanks a lot for your time,

Tom x

Thanks MG,

I do have all original disks yes, although they are Snow Leopard, is that a problem? The Genius ran a hardware test and could only see the battery as being faulty but I never run my MBP not plugged in. I've installed a third party fan manager (smcFanControl 2.4) because the computer seemed to be getting pretty hot, could that be the problem?

As for deleting Chrome, I just dragged everything I could find (following a YouTube tutorial) related to Chrome and binned it. Are there residual files that could be causing this?

Thanks for your help btw,

Tom

Using the install disk was to do a hardware test. But since you took it to the genius bar and their tests are better. You don't need to run it. Here are all the file that are for google chrome.http://crunchify.com/how-to-purge-all-your-google-chrome-user-data-on-mac-os-x/ That sensor error must have been battery. If you have change the battery to an after market one, it could be a false positive. Could you run an EtreCheck for me and post it. http://etrecheck.com/

Your computer is very much under rated as to memory. Yosemite should have at least 4 GB of memory and you can go as high as 8. If you see all the processes killed. That is because of lack of memory. http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgrades.cfm?sort=pop&model=303&type=Memory Your time machine backup disk is getting full and is too small. You can delete old backups from time machine.http://osxdaily.com/2015/07/27/delete-old-backups-time-machine-mac/ You have an extensions updater that failed. I do not know what that is. If it is third party it may need to be updated or removed. You have a large number of launch agents and launch daemons, but because of memory restrictions it could not list them all. Many of them could be from apps or services you have installed . I would not go in an delete them unless you know exactly what they are. They may be part of programs you have. Some of them are system programs and needed.

Thank you. I don't really understand a lot of what that report brought up, but I can definitely see some more RAM would be a good thing, and I might replace my hard drive with an SSD too. I can't find anything about what that extensions updater is for either, and when I search for it in Finder I can't find it - which I don't really understand.

According to your model id as a late 2008MBP ,you can run up to 8GB. Did you click on the link for memory that I gave you. Mac Sales also sells SSD drives compatible with your MBP. Their site also has support and help for how to's in installing and setting them up. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/internal_storage/SSD/Mercury_Electra_3G_Solid_Sta te The com.extensions 60094 updater agent.plist would be in a launch agent folder. Ether computer library launch agents- system library launch agents or home library launch agents. If it cannot say com.apple.extensions updater.
