2014 Mac Mini running slow, beach balling and crashing

Hi, I have a late 2014 Mac Mini that my kids use for homework, movies, etc. I have 3 accounts on it, mine and both of theirs. Lately, it runs so slow, takes forever to boot up and open applications, beachballs all the time when doing simple tasks. Safari and Chrome constantly crash. My kids always want to get on my computer now and that defeats the whole purpose of this machine!

I will preface this with one of my daughters is into all this crazy anime stuff and she's visiting all kinds of websites -- some of which may have affected it with Malware or something else.

Can anyone help?? Pleaaaase!!!!

Thank you in advance.

Hello again cmyk5199,

You appear to have already removed it. But just deleting a program does not stop it from running. The easiest way to reset everything is to just restart your machine. Since the programs have been deleted, they won't be restarted. You can also use Activity Monitor, sorted by CPU, to find the "AppEH" and "AppAS" programs and manually kill them.

How do I find this adware to remove it?

It looks like you have already removed it, presumably with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, which you appear to have installed. As a final step in the removal process, when necessary, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware should prompt you to restart your machine. It looks like you declined doing that for some reason, and didn't do so later.

As etresoft says, you simply need to restart your computer to complete the removal process.

Hi there -- I was not getting this option about opening the windows again after restart. So I went into Activity Monitor and when I saw the AppEH running (at like 95%), I just deleted it, then restarted. I haven't jumped back on yet -- been busy with work on my other computer. Will check it out tonite to see if that helped. Thanks!!
