MacBook Air - Year old on day one

I picked up my "new Macbook Air from the Apple Store in Mall at the Millenia in Orlando today Feb 4 2016.

It is the top spec machine available MBAir 13.3/2.2Ghz/8GB/512GB

Upon booting it up for the first time I check the model and it says "Early 2015"

This is not acceptable.

This laptop is showing it is 12 months old on day 1.

I am seriously considering sending this back.

You do have a return period if you don't care for this MacBook Air. I believe the period is 14 days.

But understand several things:

  • As the others above have indicated, you have the most recent model.
  • No technology company has any obligation to refresh hardware models at any frequency. Even when purchasing, say, an automobile, you may still buy a new 2015 model in 2016 - although in that case, it is more likely the manufacturer did issue a 2016 model.

Anyway, if you don't care for what you purchased, return it.
