MacBook Air - Year old on day one

I picked up my "new Macbook Air from the Apple Store in Mall at the Millenia in Orlando today Feb 4 2016.

It is the top spec machine available MBAir 13.3/2.2Ghz/8GB/512GB

Upon booting it up for the first time I check the model and it says "Early 2015"

This is not acceptable.

This laptop is showing it is 12 months old on day 1.

I am seriously considering sending this back.

Correct, the early '15 model is the most recent version of the MacBook Air.

You do have a return period if you don't care for this MacBook Air. I believe the period is 14 days.

But understand several things:

As the others above have indicated, you have the most recent model.
No technology company has any obligation to refresh hardware models at any frequency. Even when purchasing, say, an automobile, you may still buy a new 2015 model in 2016 - although in that case, it is more likely the manufacturer did issue a 2016 model.

Anyway, if you don't care for what you purchased, return it.

Just because it's an Early 2015 model doesn't mean it's not new. For all we know, it was manufactured in January 2016.
