iPhoto crashes within a few seconds of opening every time. It suggested I rebuild it so I did but still happening. What can I do?

Try reinstalling the application.

What version of iPhoto and the OS?

If you're on Yosemite then update the app via the App Store.

iPhoto 9.4.3 is crashing, because it cannot access any longer Google's map servers. iPhoto will crash, whenever it is trying to look up a location. Updating to iPhoto 9.6.1 will fix this, because that version uses different servers for the maps and locations.

You can only update however, if you own an App Store version of iPhoto, see Barney's user tip:
