Finder - Uploading to iCloud... never completes

Hi,

I noticed in Finder...

User uploaded file

... that this upload to iCloud never completes. Restarting didn't help.

What is the problem, and how can I fix this?

Many thanks.

Check System Preferences > iCloud.

Is iCloud Drive turned "On" there? If so, click "Options" on that row. Are all the options set correctly?

Thank you.

Yes, iCloud Drive is turned "On" there.

In "Options", all the listed apps are checked.

When I created a new document and tried to save it, it didn't upload to iCloud Drive. Now it's one more document in the "queue":

User uploaded file

Do I really have to contact Apple support now?

(this often means one hour waiting on the phone... :-()

Assuming you followed the instruction "Save your updated files to a different folder on your Mac ...", then yes, you should contact Apple Support.

Here in the U.S., you can generally get a call-back option where you give them a number to telephone you back at when your turn arrives. And they say you will not lose your place in line when you choose this option.

Or you could make an in-person appointment at a Genius Bar if you choose.
