Q: Caching Server Configuration

Hi

I’m having difficulty setting up this caching server to work in our environment. Here’s my systems specs:

Mac mini Server

2.3 GHz Intel Core i7

16 GB Ram

OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan

Server Version 5.0.15

In recent years the amount of ipads has risen sharply and started eating up at our bandwidth. So we got this server to alleviate the load the ipads are putting in our network. The issue we have is that we have 11 school sites (with their own public ip) plus our main district office.

I need help properly setting up this server. My first attempt was unsuccessful and this is what I did under Permissions:

Cache content for clients connecting from: Only some networks

67.x.x.x (district office) 150.x.x.1-150.x.x.10 (school sites)

Serve clients with public addresses: On other networks

67.x.x.x (district office) 150.x.x.1-150.x.x.10 (school sites)

The caching server is located in the district office. I’ve tried different variations but still can’t get it to work. When I attempt the above configuration I get the following error message “ Unable to start caching. There was an error communicating with the remote content server.” I hope you guys can point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Cache content for clients connecting from: Only some networks

67.x.x.x (district office) 150.x.x.1-150.x.x.10 (school sites)

My understanding is that the "clients connecting from" addresses should conform to RFC1918; that is, they should be 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x, or 192.168.x.x.  These are the addresses of your clients inside your NAT.

... we have 11 school sites plus our main district office ...

Serve clients with public addresses: On other networks

67.x.x.x (district office) 150.x.x.1-150.x.x.10 (school sites)

150.x.x.1-150.x.x.10 is only 10 school sites not 11.

    More Broccoli Please,

I will make the adjustment to display our internal networks address scheme for the top half portion. As for the public ip's, The school sites have contiguous address except for the district office.

    Thanks.
