Do I need to backup my iTunes purchases?
I would like to delete some movies, TV shows, etc. from my MacPro to conserve space; can I re-download them at anytime or do I need to archive them?

Hi,
I suggest that you back them up to an external drive. Whilst you can download previous purchases, the movie or tv show could be withdrawn by the owner of the copyright.
