Is the noise a chime or something else? You can try. A pram reset and SMC reset. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295 There is also Command R to get to recovery where you can run disk utilities to check/repair the drive or reinstall. Do you know what year the MBP is? Is the screen white or black?

Is it a clicking sound? That could be the hard drive. If you cannot get to recovery,or do not have recovery. Try starting up with Command S This is single user and will run a command line. Black screen with white script. When it completes the script. Type in fsck -fy Then hit return key. It will try to run a repair of the internal drive. If you see this Mac or (your name) was modified. Run the command again until it comes back OK. Then type reboot. and hit return.
