Q: My in-built camera MacBook Air OS X 10.9.5 does not work

The in-built camera of my MacBook Air OS X 10.9.5 (13F1507) stopped working after after I installed a Bitdefender Virus Scanner, and since then I have not been able to use it. I keep getting messages that there is no camera installed. I have even bought a web cam from apple store to replace it but could not get it to work either.

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), (13F1507)

Please remove "BitDefender Antivirus" by following the instructions on this page. I can't vouch for the effectiveness of those instructions. If they don't work, refer to the developer for more information.

Back up all data before making any changes. Never install any "anti-virus" or "anti-malware" software again.

I have followed the instructions and successfully removed Bitdefender Anti Virus, but when I try to use FaceTime or Skype the same message comes up: No Camera Available.

If you've installed third-party software called "ManyCam," please remove it according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging an application to the Trash.) Restart the computer and see whether there's an improvement.
