My Magic Trackpad2 is treated as a Magic Mouse Connection on my new Mac Book Pro 17'

Hey,

I recently just got a brand new Mac Book Pro 17' with the highest specs and latest software updates. When I go to trackpad to setup bluetooth trackpad under system preference, it says fails to connect. And than my Macbook shows a Magic Mouse saying its connected and I am able to use my track pad as a mouse but can't do any gestures or anything. So it is connecting, but not as a Magic Trackpad.

Suggestions?
