Anyone who can help?

I have an IPod Touch 5th generation. When I hit my I tunes icon to play my playlists, it shows a picture with the title music. That's as far as it will go. If I swipe from the bottom, it goes to a control panel where you can play songs but you can only scroll through songs. How do I get to my playlists and view all of those?
