How do I remove files from a library without deleting them from my computer?

Hi! I'm making a documentary and am using FCPX to edit it. I have 6 interviews, all pretty big files, 25-50gb. Anyway, it says I can't import the interviews because there isn't enough space on my computer, so I have two questions:

1) When you import files, are you copying them?

2) If so, how do I remove files from a library without deleting them from my computer?

Please help! Thanks.

IF you're importing from a camera or camera archive the file is being copied.

YOu caN't. You could delete the camera archive after you import. That might help a bit. Probably getting more drive space is more best solution.

AAre you using managed media, files inside the library, or external media, files stored in folders outside of the library.
