Frequent crashes on my MBP

I have a Mid 2012 2.3GHz quad core i7 retina display MBP (with 8GB ram, 250GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M) and it crashes often when games are run on it. It is running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5 for now.

I have so far worked out that its when graphics intensive apps ie. games. are started up and the underside always feels excessively hot. I run SMC fan control to up the fan speed to compensate as I have never experienced the fan to speed up when it gets hot prior to running SMC fan control.

I have run the hardware test and it came up good. (ran the basic and the extended versions)

I have been reading some threads on crashes related to "Frequent Panic NVRM". Not sure if this is my issue.

I have a genius bar appt booked for next week too.
