Can I delete photos from my iPhone and MacBook but keep them on the iCloud?

You can store photos in iCloud Photo library using the web interface at www.cloud.com. The Photos.app on that page will let you access photos in iCloud from your Mac, but not from your iPhone. And you cannot use the Phots.app on the Mac to access the photos.


It would be more convenient to enable optimize storage, both on the mac and the iPhone instead of deleting the photos from he devices. Then you can still use the Photos.app on the mac and the iPhone to browse your photos, but your devices will not store the full size versions of the photos, but download them from iCloud, of needed. The devices will only store smaller thumbnails.
