i cannot unlock spreadsheet

I cannot unlock a spreadsheet using numbers. If I go to finder, documents, the spreadsheet I see that the revisions were saving. But, I cannot same the revisions using the numbers document because it is locked. And, I cannot unlock the spreadsheet.
