Q: Trying to Reinstall OS X Yosemite (but having trouble)
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have an old MacBook that was running just wonderfully with upgraded memory and Yosemite, but there was a problem with the battery, which even after replacement failed to charge/run the battery. We decided not to invest in a computer repair, and instead taped the power connection onto the laptop and ran it with direct power.
During a rain storm, there was a power brownout, and the computer hangs for several minutes with each command, and so after repairing permissions and inspecting the HD from Disk Utility, I decided to reinstall Yosemite.
I was able to get to the download for Yosemite, and I went to bed while the three hour download was completing. When I got up, I woke up the computer expecting to finish the install. I was surprised by the old login options, as I expected to answer the typical install questions and to set up a new user. I can't tell that the computer is functioning any differently, and do not know if the install for Yosemite completed, as I expected the logins to be erased and to set it up as a new computer.
Any suggestions please? Thanks in Advance.
