Safari 9.0.3 Youtube no longer playing videos!

When I launch Youtube I can no longer play the videos ever since I upgraded to Safari 9.0.3. I even had to force quit safari or else my mac would not shut down!


I have tried the following:


  1. Deleted plist
  2. deleted all my cookies
  3. unchecked extensions ''For which I do not have any''


That is it so far. A solution would be most appreciated

Hopefully this will help others as I resolved my problem.


  1. Go to safari/preferences/Security/Plug-in Settings
  2. In my case I had three plugins there that I had installed which I wanted to remove. You cannot remove them from the plugin settings.
  3. Two of them I removed by going directly to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
  4. The last I removed from ~Library/Internet Plug-Ins


In my case I removed one at a time and relaunched safari each time. In my case it was the third one giving me problems <doubletwist>


Hope this helps others
