Note Pad Background Colour

Is there a way to change the background colour from black to white?

It shows a document colour in the Fonts section but does not change it.

This is a real pain that you can't print any notes direct to your printer as it has a black background.

I end up having to copy and paste into Pages so I don't use up an entire ink cartridge but would prefer to be able to miss this step out.
