I have a MacBook Pro (13-tommers, midten av 2012) and my SD slot dont respond when i put a sd card in there.
I use my Canon EOS 7D MKII and it would be great to use that slot instead to have a card reader with me all the time.
Do i need to do some upgrade? I use OS X EL Capitane 🙂

This is often and very irritating issue.
Most of the time it means that you have to clean the slot, be very careful and use only compressed air to start with.
Other "solutions" I saw that you move on-off the lock slider on the card several times.

When i use a 1 GB card it finds it, but when i use my 16GB card it dosent read it..
I have tried two 1 GB card and no problem.
Your slot is for sdxc: no problem.
I don't know any better: moving it in and out several times then wait some seconds, still no connection?
I was having the same issue. The card reader worked when I first got it, and then didn't respond at all to a card. You can run a hardware diagnostic by powering down the computer, and then holding the D key when you power it back up. Click the T key to run the test. This can help rule out whether the hardware is having an issue or not.
It turned out my hardware passed the test, so I looked around on the Internet. Someone else said they had issues with SanDisk SD cards and the micro SD to SD card adapters. The card or adapter will keep one of the pins stuck after removing it. As suggested, I carefully took a toothpick and pressed on the far left pin in the SD card slot. It loosened it up enough, and now my card reader works normally again.
I'm not sure if it will work for you, but I would give it a try.
