I just had a scammer try to lock my iPad. Has that happened to anyone?

Any such message will be a scam.

Do not respond to the message.

Double tap the Home button, then swipe upwards on the Safari preview.

Go to Settings - Safari - Clear History.

Restart Safari.

Yes, it has happened to people in the past that have reported it here. As long as you do what stedman recommends you will be fine. Never give out your credentials, email address, phone number, credit card details, etc. etc. etc.
