Where do I "type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices"

I'm sure it's been asked and answered 10,000 times already, but can't find a **** thing in these discussions.

On an iPhone 4s, trying to sign into icloud (in icloud settings), I get the message "Apple ID Verification Code Required: type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices."

I get the verification number on an iPad.

Where on earth do I type this code!!!

Pressing "Ok" just puts me back to the sign in page and if I try to sign in it just repeats the process with a new code.

Thanks.

N.

Hi, my problem is that i don't get a field to complete. the first time of entering the password it advises code will be sent and enter it after the password, i am then shown the OK button, if i say ok i get the code sent to trusted device, but then don't have anywhere to enter the password and the code. if i close the iCloud and reopen it goes back to the enter password which if i enter the password and verification code it tells me password incorrect and i then go into the same loop again.

iOS 7.1.2 "Your software is up to date"

I don't have access to the iPad right now, but if you are right — seriously? I'm just supposed to know that?!? Password + verification code in the password field unlike every other password field I've ever used ever?!? That's logical according to apple? I've never in my life added any extra characters to a password field, but in this one special apple case…

I think you are right, but will see. But seriously Apple, what are you thinking?

Will try tomorrow.

Okay. That was it.

So it's the password+the code directly in the password field.

A clearer on screen message and/or the last line of the help screen in bold would help.

One just expects when asked to enter a code you will be presented with a field that says "enter code here" or the like.

I've been using computers since the Vic 20 came out and this is the first time I've ever entered something other than my password in a password field.

That is not intuitive, no matter who engaged the verification process.

Thank you. Yes two factor is on.

I've gone to applied.apple.com. Thought about turning two factor off, but then I'm back to the idiot questions (it's my father's phone, getting the same answers to those questions twice is near impossible – when it's talking about friends from school it's talking about things that happened in WW2. Not worth the effort).

So now with a brand new clean install. It's asking for AppleID plus code, but no code is now showing up on his iPad or Computer. Tried the iPad's "Get Verification Code", but iPhone won't take those in the password+code password field.

Yeah... seriously.

You know this by looking at the article I sent you earlier.

And understanding the additional "things" that go along with using 2 factor authentication. To deliver a higher level of security, procedures are now different.

You can update a 4s to iOS 9.x, but not a 4. Which do you have? If you are seeing 7.1.2 as up to date, you don't have a 4s, you have a 4.

It's now special because you asked Apple to make it special. You still haven't actually answered if you enabled 2 factor authentication. It sounds like you have, and if you did, YOU changed the game, not Apple.

>>> But seriously Apple, what are you thinking? <<<

They are thinking you wanted extra account security, which you asked for.

If you did not enable 2 factor authentications, well that's different again.
