Changing email account

I discovered i cannot synchronize the mac and Iphone in the mail program with my provider which is virgilio - Italy. It doesn't support IMAP on iphone.

So sadly i discovered i have to change the MAIL PROVIDER in order to get the two device synced. This means that because i have hundreds of accounts i have to register again to all the websites where i am registered which are hundreds. Is there any another way to retain the old email addresses?

I cannot understand why the only way is to switch to iCloud.com and why the other providers doesn't provide synchronization between iphone and mac. Or maybe i understand that Jobs was right when he introduced the cloud concept.

The best synched mail provider is iCloud which i have seen it works.
