hard drive almost full with 'other' files

My MacAir hard drive says its almost full and i have 90+ Gb of 'other' on the hard drive that i cannot find. Will backing up then wiping the drive and re-installing fix the issue?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

Probably not. Follow Klaus1's advice and download from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all of your files and the respective sizes.

Transfer to an external HDD or delete files you no longer want on your MBP.

Do not forget to empty trash. Only then is space allocated for new data.

Ciao.
