Files can't be restored error message in Timemachine

Major issue on one of our Macbook pros. After several failed attempts to install El Capitan which was downloaded correctly, with a message an extraction file was missing or something, I have tried several times now to restore the Maverick system from a recent Time machine backup. It goes on to almost 70% restore and then gives an error message " the files can't be restored". I could do a disk check in disk utility and there was no issue. I am lost this is a business computer and not sure what to do anymore, I need the computer. Any advice will be appreciated.

Regards

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
