Black dot under finder

I’ve only been using a Mac for less than 24 hours Switched from Windows after 20+ years 🙂

I’m using OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 and I don’t seem to be able to remove the small black dot from under finder

on the Dock, I can remove the black dot from the under the rest of the app icons by right clicking and clicking on

quit but Finder does not have the quit option available when right clicking on it.

Thanks.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

The dot signifies an application that is running, the finder is always on, hence the dot.

If you want the dot to disappear you can use System Preferences>Dock and uncheck the item

Show Indicators For Open Applications.
