What is Mail:Mailbox:Synchronize

I see the menu item Synchronize under the Mailbox menu in Mail.

What does it do?

MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), Aluminum

Based on my short test, it appears to be the same as clicking Get Mail, but it only checks the listed account.
