Q: siri disables on messages

My 5s has recently started to disable the mic on my messages so I can't use voice to input messages. If I turn off the phone and restart it is once again enabled.

Would anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

I have looked through settings and can't see anything that controls siri on messages.

Hi afteryouwho,
Are you having any difficulties with Siri understanding your commands in any other application than Messages? The first thing to check is that the microphone is working properly.
Get help with the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
One of the steps in the article is to update your iOS. Your profile shows iOS 9.1.
Since Messages is a part of the iPhone's operating system, an update of the software may help if you are not having any issues with the microphones or using Siri in any other application.
