Ext HDD casues Finder to hang on my Mac but not another

I have an external 2TB hard disk, when I access the contents on my iMac at home the spinning wheel begins. Finder will hang but I can still use my other apps. Only thing I can do to end it, is to relaunch Finder.

But when I access the same ext HDD on another iMac at work, everything is fine. Is there an issue with my HDD or my iMac?
