How to change my rescue email address

Your rescue email address is an optional address that is used to verify your Apple ID for security purposes. Your Apple ID is the email address that is used for purchasing items on the iTunes Store, including in-app purchases. I'll include some information here for you that explains how to change your Apple ID email address and also how to update your Apple ID purchase information.

About your Apple ID email addresses

Apple ID email address
This is the email address you use with your password when signing in to any Apple service. It’s also the primary email address on your account.

Rescue email address
You have the option to add a rescue email address to your account for more security. You can see it when you sign in to your Apple ID account page.

Manage your Apple ID account information

Update your Apple ID email address

Change your Apple ID using the steps below:

1. If you're signed in to iCloud on any of your devices, sign out.
2. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
3. In the Account section, click Edit.
4. Below Apple ID, click Change Email Address.
5. Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID and click Continue. A verification code will be sent to your new email address.
6. Enter the verification code from the email into the fields provided and start using your updated Apple ID. Didn't get the email?
7. After you update your Apple ID, you need to update your Apple ID in each service that you’re signed in to.

You can change your Apple ID to any other email address you control, as long as it's not already in use as an Apple ID. You also can't change your Apple ID if it's an @icloud.com email address.

You can also add, change, or delete the different email addresses that you use with your Apple ID. After you verify an email address, it appears under Reachable At in the Account section along with the phone numbers that you use with iMessage. With these email addresses and phone numbers, your friends and family can contact you using iMessage, FaceTime, Game Center, and more.

Update your payment information

You can change your payment information for your Apple ID on your device or through iTunes. This payment information is the same as what you use to buy apps, music, and iCloud storage.

To change your payment information on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings > iCloud.
2. Tap your Apple ID. If asked, enter your Apple ID password.
3. Tap Payment.
4. Update your payment information and tap Next.

To change your payment information on your Mac or PC, follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
2. Below Payment, click Add a Card or click Edit.
3. Update your payment information and tap Save.

You can also change your payment information in iTunes on your Mac or PC.
