Airport Lost Property Auction Icloud Locked Devices

Hi All

New here so hello to all.

So i have a scenario i would like help on.

I attend many auctions for various bits and bobs and ive seen over the years many Apple devices start to turn up in various states from brand new to used and abused. One such auction house sells UK transport services lost propery. Anything from suitcases, prams, electronics and Apple devices. With the advent of Icloud locking many of these devices are pretty much useless, but it got me thinking if Apple would unlock the device if it can be proved it was bought from a genuine auction house as lost property from UK transport companies.

Would anyone have any idea what chance i would stand in this scenario? Basically ive seen a few devices i would like but im not buying a brick if nothing can be done with it.

Thanks

Apple will not unlock an Activation Locked device other than for the original owner who can provide the original purchase documentation. If you think one of these devices on sale may be locked, don't buy it.

Apple have provided a method of checking before purchase that an iOS device isn't Activation Locked: you go to https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/ and enter the IMEI or serial number and a captcha. This obviously requires you to be able to get the serial number before purchase.
