Trying to print a word document

Sone years ago, I created a document in Word on my PC and now, having just gone over to MacBook Pro, I find I can't get it to print properly. Even print preview doesn't show it as it should.

My wife is more au fait with computers than I am but even she is struggling.

Could any kind person please suggest how to do it? I know there is the 'Create booklet' program of the MacBook but it's quite a large document and it would take ages to transfer it across.
