sudden storage problem

Suddenly this morning my iphone 6 has almost 40g of storage used in documents and data that was not there yesterday. I tried to send a large email yesterday, and then my email crashed and erased all email. Iphone 6 with lastest software. I have deleted email and re installed it. any other suggestions as to what and why the sudden storage usage??

I understand that, as a result of the Mail app crashing, you've noticed an abnormal amount of storage being used by the 'Documents and Data' category on your iPhone. In such a situation backing your iPhone up and restoring from the backup will remove the cached data that's affecting this count.
