iTunes quits unexpectedly every time I open it

I have had the updated iTunes for weeks...but all of the sudden, every time I open it it crashes and a box comes up saying "iTunes quit unexpectedly".

Sometimes it will open for about 10 seconds and work before it crashes, but it always crashes.

I am on an iMac. I have tried restarting.

What should I do?

Hold down the option/alt key while starting iTunes. Create a new, test library. If that works it is your old library that is corrupt and we can proceed from there. If that does not work then it is likely the application which is corrupt and you can try re-installing it.
